The memory of victory is a national cult, cornerstone of national identity and source of national pride. 

The more years pass and this date becomes a more entrenched part of history, the louder and more grandiosely it is celebrated. 

However, this important date is gradually becoming more controversial and sometimes irritating, when entangled with the contemporary developments and geopolitical context.
