Orientalist and expert on Iran, Islamism, and Russian foreign policy in the Middle East. He is the author of Iran for Everyone: The Paradoxes of Life in an Autocracy under Sanctions (Всем Иран. Парадоксы жизни в автократии под санкциями). His articles are regularly published in leading Russian- and English-language media outlets, including the Carnegie Endowment, Meduza, and Al-Monitor. He is also regularly invited by publications such as The New York Times, Bloomberg, The Guardian, CNN, and the BBC, among others, to provide expert commentary on Middle Eastern affairs.
